5 THINGS ON NETFLIX THAT YOU CANNOT MISS

Tired of browsing through Netflix unable to find anything new? Here’s a mix of 5 movies and TV shows that you cannot miss

Lockdown season has been long and stifling for all of us. Being sat at home with not much else to do has resulted in a worldwide spread of a common phenomenon: the Netflix binge. As fun as this may have been for the first month or so, I’m sure we’ve all gotten bored of scrolling through the front page and finding nothing of interest.

Fear not, I have a solution. As an actor, here are my 5 top picks (in no particular order) of Netflix watches that you just can’t miss.

1. Élite (18+)

3 SEMANAS. 3 WEEKS.

If you’ve struggled to get into La Casa de Papel (commonly known as Money Heist), this may be a great starting point for you. A teen drama that tackles the themes of class, drugs, xenophobia and sexuality, this is the show that Riverdale wanted to be. I also recommend watching it in Spanish (with subtitles) instead of watching the English dub.

2. Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga (13+)

This one may be a guilty pleasure. Featuring cameos from past Eurovision contestants, this film is the perfect casual watch, balancing satire and wholesome content extremely well. Rachel McAdams does a fantastic job playing the lovable, lighthearted Sigrit, and hearing My Marianne sing Husavik (My Home Town) is like something out of The Greatest Showman.

3. Gerald’s Game (18+)

Gerald's Game is now yours Peeps!! Out on #Netflix as of midnight last night! Get on it already. :) Very proud to be a part of this film. And so thankful the response so far has been so overwhelmingly positive. There is so much that goes into making a movie. And in this case, a low budget movie shot furiously fast. There was no time to mess around. We just had to dig deep. Fast. From the mind of Stephen King came the novel and then @flanaganfilm spent many years figuring out how to bring it to cinematic life. A worthy challenge indeed. What an honor to bring that vision to the screen with such a talented and fearless group of artists. #brucegreenwood #henrythomas @katesiegelofficial @chiaraaurelia #trevormacy #jeffhoward Shot by the impeccable #michaelfimognari My hope is that this film will get your heart beating, compel you to keep watching (even when you want to look away), and take you into the complicated psyche of a woman named #jessieburlingame who is fighting for her life. #stephenking #film #netflix #now Photo #behindthescenes shot by #glenwilson @netflix

Based on a Stephen King novel of the same name, which should tell you everything you need to know, this movie is not for the faint hearted. Carla Gugino does a terrific job as Jessie, and the cinematography is beautiful. If you think you can stomach it, give it a watch.

4. Peaky Blinders (18+)

This may not come as a surprise to anyone, but in case you haven’t seen it, this period drama about a gang in the 1900s is definitely worth watching. It may take you a while to get into it, but once you do, I can guarantee that no-one will ever compare to the suave yet rugged Tommy Shelby.

5. Room (16+)

This Fall, love knows no boundaries.

Not to be confused with The Room, this is actually one of my favourite films of all time. The journey that Joy and Jack go on will have you moved to tears. Brie Larson’s performance was so captivating it won her the Oscar for Best Actress. If you haven’t already seen it, you definitely should.

Have you seen any of these? What are your thoughts?
