Google launches ‘Fundo’ for creators to host monetized virtual events.
Fundo is a platform made for YouTubers and other creators and/or artists to host virtual experiences that are monetized and ticketed. However, Fundo is only accessible to anyone residing in the U.S. or Canada.
According to general manager John Gregg, a few “trusted testers” have already given Fundo a try, revealing that they can now set the price in order to access the online events as well as control the number of people who will be able to attend.
Fundo seems to be gaining more attention, given the ongoing pandemic we all are living through at the moment. This platform that is meant for virtual events ha paved a path for a variety of concepts including workout sessions, cooking classes, workshops and potentially more! It is designed to conduct events on a relatively smaller scale that allows under 40 people to attend a virtual event, mostly meet-and-greets and workshops.
There are no separate apps that Fundo provides, instead, customers are expected to access everything on the site. Fundo’s hosting features include video streaming, promotional tools and payment-transaction processing. Another feature that makes a meet-and-greet, mini concert or a live cooking class achieve a personalized touch is the “Photo Booth” feature that allows attendees to get a photo with the creator in the creator-customized frame. Although virtual events are not quite enjoyable compared to in-person events, this feature allows attendees to feel closer to the creator.
Interested customers are able to search up specific events on the official site, fundo.town. Moreover, creators also conduct one-on-one events where the customer can request for a specific slot of time and proceeds to make the payment and after the creator confirms, they meet for an exclusive session. It was also revealed how Google yields a 20% cut of the revenue that Fundo generates.
