T-Minus 9 Days Until Clash on the Dunes Rumbles Saudi Arabia
In less than a week and a half sports history will be made in Saudi Arabia, as one of the biggest boxing matches of the decade kicks off in Riyadh.
Clash on the Dunes, presented by PIF will see Anthony Joshua (@anthonyjoshua) challenge reigning world heavyweight titleholder Andy Ruiz Jr. (@andy_destroyer13) in a fight some are saying will be one of the most memorable showdowns in boxing history.
Joshua, the former British Heavyweight Champion, lost his WBO, WBA, IBF and IBO belts to Ruiz when the pair first duked it out at New York’s Madison Square Garden earlier this year.
Many didn't think Ruiz, who has jokingly referred to himself as "little fat boy" according to Esquire Middle East, would stand a chance against the fighter who has often been described as having the physique of Adonis.
Ruiz’s win by TKO left both Joshua and the professional boxing community in shock, as many couldn’t believe Mexico’s first heavyweight champion (Ruiz is Mexican-American) had dethroned one of the best fighters of his generation.
Joshua and Ruiz will square off in a rematch fight taking place on Dec 7 at The Diriyah Arena, a custom-built 15,000-seater venue, according to Talk Sport.
The fight is the headlining event of Diriyah Season, taking place alongside other sports events and concerts.
More than over fifteen thousand fans from over sixty countries are expected to travel to Saudi Arabia to witness Clash on the Dunes, presented by PIF.
Thanks to the Kingdom’s new eVisa system, visitors from 49 countries will be able to apply for visas online or on arrival – making short term travel for tourism, entertainment and sporting events within the country easier than ever before. (Other travelers are invited to visit their nearest Saudi embassy for more information on how they can visit Saudi Arabia.)
Tickets for all of Diriyah Season’s events, concerts and entertainment will be available at diriyahseason.sa. Fans who are interested in watching the fight from the comforts of their home can visit matchroomboxing.com for more information on pay-per-view options.
