This new poll option is going to be made available within a user's post composer options as shown in the example above which was shared by reverse engineering expert Jane Manchun Wong. When this option is selected, users are able to add a question, include a maximum of four possible answers and set the duration of the poll before finally posting it, according to Social Media Today.
Polls will not only be available on the LinkedIn mobile application, it will also be available on desktops and within groups; however, there are limitations on which group admins can see the results of the polls, according to Social Media Today.
The latter aspect is most likely going to be a point of interest for long-time LinkedIn group admins, becasue the polls options used to be available in groups before it was taken away by LinkedIn in 2014.
Polls are making a comeback and this is beneficial to groups in order to gather relevant feedback from their members as well as providing a means of communication for brands to communicate with their audience on the platform and lastly for individuals to post questions about topics they are curious about, according to Social Media Today.
LinkedIn has not released an official statement regarding when or if polls will be made available to all users.
In addition to polls, Wong also discovered that LinkedIn has been testing out a new hashtag entitled "presentation mode." This hashtag would highlight and showcase the bigger conversation attached to a certain hashtag on LinkedIn's platform in a full-screen format, according to Social Media Today.
This new presentation option would be available from a specific hashtag feed on LinkedIn desktop and the option would be placed at the bottom of the options list and will be entitled "Enter fullscreen presentation mode." When this option is selected, users would then see a full-screen feed of posts using the specific tag that the user had selected, according to Social Media Today.
