How often do you update your WhatsApp Status? Probably not too frequently. Facebook is looking to change that very soon...

The social media giant is testing a new feature that will allow users to cross-post their Insta Stories not only on Facebook, but also on WhatsApp. If this new feature is a go, it will make sharing updates with friends and followers much easier, as Story fans will no longer have to create new content for three different platforms.

Sounds intriguing, Facebook!

We know users have been able to share their Stories directly to Facebook since October 2017. It makes complete sense that users should also be able to do the same thing with their WhatsApp, especially considering the messaging app is owned by Facebook.

“We are always testing ways to improve the experience on Instagram and make it easier to share any moment with the people who matter to you,” a Facebook spokesperson told TechCrunch website.

At present, a small number of users in Brazil have had the privilege to test out this new potential update.

There are a number of reasons why Facebook would be keen to allow users to share Story content from Instagram on WhatsApp.

Since November 2017, there were more than 300 million daily active users of Instagram Stories. Considering WhatsApp Status hasn’t been nearly as popular, it could be an attempt to encourage users of the messaging app to starting updating their WhatsApp story content more frequently.

Another reason could be that Facebook is trying to push users to spend more time on Facebook-owned apps, as oppose to having them wander to the competition (i.e. Snapchat).

Overall, we think most social media fans will be excited at the potential opportunity to cross-post content across three different platforms.
