A Beauty Vlogger’s Guide To Taking Care of Your Skin in The Summer
Summer is here and the temperature is rising!
Extreme weather conditions like heat and humidity can make our skin break out while the AC over-exposure can make it look dull and feel dehydrated.
Having a simple yet effective skincare routine is a must.
Like our wardrobes, our skin changes throughout the seasons and summer is not an exception. Throughout the hotter months I, personally, prefer a “less is more" approach.
I try keeping my routine as practical and concise as I can, focusing on using products that are calming, refreshing and light-weight on the complexion.

Use a gentle cleanser with salicylic acid or any other BHA’s to control the oils. It will gently remove impurities, exfoliate your pores and keep those blackheads at bay.
Include Vitamin C in Your Routine
This multi-benefit, powerhouse ingredient is something everyone should be using in their skincare routine. It'd anti-inflammatory, hydrating, and has excellent anti-aging properties as it boosts collagen and elastin production, fades hyperpigmentation, evens out tone and skin texture. It also fights free radicals and increases the efficacy of your sun block.
Make sure to get a product that comes packed in an airtight and dark container to keep the formulation stable and wear it right before your moisturizer of choice once or twice a day and enjoy a brighter glowy visage.
Switch Up Your Moisturizer
Change your emollient moisturizer for a more lightweight refreshing formula that contains hyaluronic acid, this will keep your skin hydrated for longer without the heavy texture of your regular face cream.
Don't Forget About Sunscreen
Wear Sunscreen diligently. I can’t stress enough on the importance of applying and re-applying sunscreen daily, even on cloudy days!
It's important to note UV rays pass through clouds, glass and bounce back on surfaces like water, sand, and grass. Unprotected sun exposure is one of the main causes of premature aging of the skin cells and skin cancer.
When choosing a sunblock go for a broad-spectrum formula as it offers both: UVA and UVB rays protection with a minimum SPF of 30 or greater and make sure to re-apply it every two hours. (For more sunscreen related you can check a detail post on my blog here)
We are what we eat!
Drinking enough water is key not only for overall health but to ensure your skin gets all the moisture it needs. Consuming lots of fruits and vegetables with high water content also count! Plus, the addition of vitamins and nutrients that will make your skin look radiant all summer long and thank you for it.
