Atari Hotels are going to bump up hotel entertainment with new experiences that will immerse people from all ages and gaming abilities, including the latest in Virtual and Augmented Reality. As Atari has licensed its name for a number of partnerships in the gaming space, but their latest goal and deal is to build eight Atari-branded hotels.
Atari announced a licensing deal with True North Studio and GSD group to build eight hotels in the United States, construction for the first hotel will begin in Phoenix in the middle of 2020 and future hotels in Austin, Chicago, Denver, Las Vegas, San Francisco, San Jose and Seattle, according to The Verge.
This “video game themed destination” will be offering gaming playgrounds that include VR and AR games, in addition to that, some of these locations will have venues and studios in order to host and accommodate e-sports events.
The hotels will have meeting rooms, co-working spaces, restaurants, bars, a bakery, movie theatre and gym, according to Atari, the company will be a destination for families and business travellers.
Atari has received a $600, 000 advance for inking and confirming the deal and will receive 5% of the hotels revenues. In Arizona, the hotel will be located close to Steve Wozniak’s Woz U university campus, which is associated with the Phoenix-based GSD Group.
“When creating this brand-new hotel concept, we knew that Atari would be the perfect way to give guests the ‘nostalgic and retro meets modern’ look and feel we were going for. Let’s face it, how cool will it be to stay inside an Atari?!” said Napoleon Smith III.
More than $152.1 billion has been spent on games alone in 2019, as there are more than 2.5 billion gamers across the world. So Atari hotels will be offering such consumers an intellectual property as they marry the origins of gaming and the future of the growing industry into an exciting and different travel destination.
