A cybercrime complaint has been filed against Indian TikTok star Faizal Siddiqui after he encouraged acid attacks on women in his latest video.
Twitter users are outraged at his views and have said that he deserves to be jailed for using his platform to promote violence against women who reject marriage or relationship proposals.
Additionally, #BanTikTokIndia and #Acid were trending on Twitter.
The 9-second video by Faizal Siddiqui was shared on Twitter by a user named Intrepaid Saffron. The video has, since then, gone viral on social media. In the contentious TikTok video, he can be heard saying, “Usna tumhe chor diya jiska liya tumna Mujhe chora tha“. The loose translation goes as “Did the man, for whom you abandoned me, leave you?” Following the dialogue, he goes on to recreate a disturbing scene of an acid attack. The face of the victim is then seen covered in scars.

Faisal has over 13 million followers on his TikTok platform alone so the national outrage comes as no surprise.
Rekha Sharma, the Chairperson of the National Commission for Women (NCW) also took to Twitter to express her horror and has said that she plans on pursuing the matter with the Indian Police as well as with TikTok India.
I am taking it up today itself with both police and @TikTok_IN https://t.co/drBqy9ykji

Faizal has since taken to Instagram to issue a public apology where he said,
“My Intention was never to hurt anyone in any Capacity. As a social media influencer, I realize my responsibility and apologize to anyone who was offended by the video.”
