Here's Where Dubai's Landmarks Ranked In The World's Most Photographed Locations

A study by Sony and OnePoll, looking at Instagram Images over the last four years, revealed the top 30 most photographed locations in the world, with UAE more than holding its own, taking two spots in the top 20.

With 1,446,682 images on Instagram, the Burj Khalifa was ranked number 5, ahead of renowned destinations like New York’s Times Square and Statue of Liberty or Rome’s Colosseum.

The Burj Al Arab was a few places behind, coming in at 18th place with over 534,562 shots taken, outranking Mount Fuji, Buckingham Palace and the Great Wall Of China.

Taking top spot was Paris’ Eiffel Tower, with a whopping 4,654,699 images, with London’s Big Ben scooping the runner’s up spot.

The survey also revealed over half the respondents picked their holiday destinations based on others photos and – as a more interesting titbit – especially for our aspiring photographers out there, 43 percent of Burj Khalifa and 56 percent of Burj Al Arab images were shot from the same three angles.

In fact, overall more than half of the 30 landmarks were shot from the same three angles as well.

Why is that important? Over 47 percent of the respondents said they were bored of seeing the same shots (wouldn’t you be?), and that 52 percent of the people would be more likely to ‘like’ a picture if it was one they haven’t seen before.

So before you break out your camera, do your homework and try and break the mould with some new and enticing shots
