On Saturday, the news broke about Chadwick Boseman’s tragic death. Boseman had battled with colon cancer for four years.  He was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016, and persevered through it.

Boseman brought many films during surgeries and chemotherapy, including, Marshall, Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, 21 Bridges, Da 5 Bloods, and more.

Chadwick Boseman’s final tweet is currently at 6.5 million likes and 2.9 million retweets. Twitter also announced the news on their account, reposting the tweet with the message “most liked Tweet ever. A tribute fit for a King. #WakandaForever.”

People around the world have come together to celebrate his life and accomplishments. Including Lebron James, Kamala Harris, Barack Obama, Angela Bassett, and more.

During the premiere party for Black Panther, Chadwick reminded me of something. He whispered that when I received my honorary degree from Howard University, his alma mater, he was the student assigned to escort me that day. And here we were, years later as friends and colleagues, enjoying the most glorious night ever! We’d spent weeks prepping, working, sitting next to each other every morning in makeup chairs, preparing for the day together as mother and son. The record was previously held by President Barack Obama, when he tweeted a Nelson Mandela quote, “no one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin or his background or his religion.” The tweet was posted in August 2017 following a car attack at a protest against white supremacists in Virginia.
