“Money can buy you comfort,” says Erika Kullberg

Find out what your “why?” is in life in our latest interview with Erika Kullberg.

Erika Kullberg

In an exclusive interview with ITP Live, financial advisor and influential TikToker Erika Kullberg shared her story of how she built up the confidence to quit her 9-5 job and become her own boss.

Who is Erika Kullberg?

Erika Kullberg studied as a lawyer before realising there was more to life than working a 9-5 role where she felt she could help more people by using the power of social media. After posting a few videos across her social media, Erika saw a market for advising people on their rights in a simple way without them having to read through terms and conditions on paper.

Currently, Erika has 3.7 million followers on her Instagram, 8.6 million followers on her TikTok, and 516 million followers on her YouTube channel. Most of Erikas content is in a short video format where she gives different, real-life scenarios of tips people can use in everyday life.

“I own 100%”

During the interview on the ITP Live Show, Erika is asked if money can buy people happiness to which she replies “Money can buy you comfort. It doesn’t buy happiness but it buys you comfort and stability. After quitting her job as a lawyer, Erika explains that she currently still works with a few clients but focuses more on her time as a content creator. “I really love it,” she explains, “I’m grateful every day for this compared to where I was 2 years ago. Compared to when someone controlled me, and what I was doing. I have control over my life now. I own 100%.”

It seems as though Erika had been through some difficult hurdles during her time as a working professional in an office. “I would not have had the guts to quit, had it not been for those uncomfortable experiences.” We understand the power of social media and what it can do for people when building a brand or creating financial freedom. Erika carries on to say “I went on social media to help people, I wanted the opportunity to help real people. I don’t let outside voices get to me.”

But it wasn’t a success story at the beginning for Erika. Like every content creator or those who start from the beginning, there is the struggle of getting views, likes, comments, and shares. “The first 6 months I got 100 views on my videos. Now it’s easier to look and say she made the right decision. I never question myself. My ‘why’ is based on wanting to help people.”

TIP: Everyone should ask themselves the question ‘why am i doing this?’ When you know your goal and what you are doing it for, it makes the process a little easier as you are giving yourself “self-motivation” every day based on that why.

By leaving a high-paid and well-respected role, Erika shares that “it’s hard when you don’t feel like anyone is supporting you. You have to motivate yourself.” If you are not enjoying your role and want more, think about everything before taking the plunge. As Erika explains, “Do something you enjoy and have the right reasons for doing it. Don’t come onto social media for the fame as that won’t get you through the tough part.”

Of course, the conversation went on to talk about investments and what people should look into. “I think you should invest in things you believe in. I want to educate people on options so I do talk about classic stocks, bitcoin, and cryptocurrency just to educate. I’m investing in the stock market, crypto, and real estate. For me, diversity is important, and why I invest in different things. I would never put my money into one thing as that’s risky.”

We often ask ourselves or get asked what advice we would give our younger selves. When we asked Erika what advice she would give her younger self and in a short and sweet response, she replied “Don’t be so scared about people’s opinions.”

Many of us live in fear of the unknown or what will happen next. After listening to Erika’s interview and her infectious smile radiating toward the screen, we all need to make a plan. Some people are lucky, but even luck runs out and we still need to make a plan for what happens next. Erika gives us solutions and is proof that working on a plan A, B, and C is better than working on no strategy at all, and that working for yourself is better than working for someone in some situations.
