Twitter is in talks of introducing a new feature that allows users to tip other users for their tweets.
Although Twitter has not officially announced the feature, tech blogger Jane Manchun Wong shared snippets of how the tipping feature would look like – with users being able to send payments through platforms such as Bandcamp, Cash App, Patreon, PayPal and Venmo.
Wong previously uncovered the payment feature “Tip Jar” for the audio app Twitter Spaces – which would allow creators to earn an income by hosting audio rooms with other users:

Twitter’s plans to introduce the tipping payment feature would come at no surprise: the platform is always looking at ways to better optimize the platform by providing opportunities for users to earn money. This is reflected in the release of their ‘Super Follows’ feature in February 2021 – which helped Twitter creators monetize their feeds through the introduction of exclusive, paid content.

Overall, the tipping feature – if released – would provide content creators on Twitter another monetization channel.
