Rawan and Rayan Fahmi have just released their first 2021 music video for their single AlHamdulillah on May 2. The music video was produced by Melonda Digital Productions and features the dynamic twin duo alongside their younger baby sister Ayla Fahmi and their father Badr Fahmi.
Inspired by the ongoing global pandemic, AlHamdulillah is an anthem for expressing gratitude in our day-to-day lives and that Covid has taught us to be thankful for everything that we have. The song also expresses hope for a return to normality – as vaccine rollouts across the world hint towards the beginning of the end of the ‘new normal’.
The music video begins with multiple pan shots of empty streets, vacant classrooms, and empty swings – in order to reflect the state of the pandemic in March 2020. Hospital scenes featuring separated, sick family members are juxtaposed with happy clips of Rawan and Rayan enjoying quality family time with father Badr and baby sister Ayla – symbolizing that we must be thankful for our loved ones during these troubling times.
Towards the end of the music video, the mood turns from discouragement to hope – with the excitement of vaccine rollouts and of in-person schools reopening being paralleled with scenes of white birds being thrown to freedom.
This isn’t the famous twin-duo’s first dip into music: Rayan and Rawan released music videos for their song Altawam – meaning ‘twins’ – in December 2018, Ya Ashab – meaning ‘friends – in November 2019, and Youm Al Watani – a cover of the National Anthem of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – in September 2019.
