Plenty of us have completed marathons for good causes and personal goals, but we bet you’ve never ran 300k in 70 hours.
One ambitious Emirati influencer is attempting it in the name of charity.
34-year-old Dr. Khaled Jamal Al Suwaidi plans to run from Fujairah to Port Zayed in Abu Dhabi this Saturday (Feb 3rd).
His goal is to complete the trek in three days.
Al Suwaidi wants to raise awareness for Rahma, a cancer patient care society. The charity was founded three years ago by his father, a cancer survivor, who is now in remission.
His plan of attack is to run 120km per day, on two or three hours of sleep. His goal is to complete the route within 65 to 70 hours (i.e. within three days).
Challenging? Absolutely.
But Al Suwaidi is no stranger to this kind of challenge.
He’s believed to be the first Emirati to run up and down Jebel Hafeet, the 1,200-metre-high mountain in Al Ain, twice in 24 hours. He’s currently training with ultra-marathon coach, Lee Harris, and has run more than 2,700km since June.
During this 300k run, Al Suwaidi will have intravenous mineral replacements and fluids will be pumped via IV, in order to help his recovery during his rest hours.
His advice to others, who want to accomplish great things?
“I keep telling everybody there’s no secret to this. If you want to do something, you have to do it,” Al Suwaidi said. “If you’re running for a cause, there’s great motivation.”

We’re rooting for you, Dr. Khaled!
