An Emirati influencer is running 300k for charity

Plenty of us have completed marathons for good causes and personal goals, but we bet you’ve never ran 300k in 70 hours.

One ambitious Emirati influencer is attempting it in the name of charity.

34-year-old Dr. Khaled Jamal Al Suwaidi plans to run from Fujairah to Port Zayed in Abu Dhabi this Saturday (Feb 3rd).

His goal is to complete the trek in three days.

I would like to thank @abudhabiports for sponsoring my upcoming run aswell as @abudhabisc @revivabudhabi @cryo @agthiagroup @nmchealthcare for supporting and sponsoring . As the countdown begins to Feb 3rd , I have to thank my family , coaches and friends for their support throughout my 4 months of grueling training . I have put myself in the best possible physical and mental state to tackle this run from start to finish . My journey from Fujairah to Abu Dhabi will try to defeat me if I give it any chance to do so . Running for Rahma Cancer Patient Care Society and for a cause will give me the drive I require to endure a challenge of this magnitude . #ready #hardworkpaysoff #comfortablewiththeuncomfortable #prideinbattle #createyourownfuel #rahmarun #feb3rd #fujairahtoabudhabi #ultra #ultrarunning #runningforacause

Al Suwaidi wants to raise awareness for Rahma, a cancer patient care society. The charity was founded three years ago by his father, a cancer survivor, who is now in remission.

His plan of attack is to run 120km per day, on two or three hours of sleep. His goal is to complete the route within 65 to 70 hours (i.e. within three days).

Training camp on Jabel Hafeet has been grueling , intense but enjoyed every minute of it , accumulation of 125 km so far . Tomorrow Inshallah I will attempt to run 50km on this mountain (run it twice) with the aim to complete it . Running uphill and downhill can be a humbling experience especially when their is no flat in sight . Not far until #therahmarun , being able to challenge yourself through determination and hard work is highly recommended in all areas of life , at the end of the day hard work always pays off . Thanks coach @coachlee.ultraperformance for a great training camp and being with me every step of the way . #comfortablewiththeuncomfortable #therahmarun #fujeirahtoabudhabi #runningforacause #ultra #ultrarunning #knowyourwhy #proudbutneversatisfied #hardwork

Challenging? Absolutely.

But Al Suwaidi is no stranger to this kind of challenge.

He’s believed to be the first Emirati to run up and down Jebel Hafeet, the 1,200-metre-high mountain in Al Ain, twice in 24 hours. He’s currently training with ultra-marathon coach, Lee Harris, and has run more than 2,700km since June.

During this 300k run, Al Suwaidi will have intravenous mineral replacements and fluids will be pumped via IV, in order to help his recovery during his rest hours.

His advice to others, who want to accomplish great things?

“I keep telling everybody there’s no secret to this. If you want to do something, you have to do it,” Al Suwaidi said. “If you’re running for a cause, there’s great motivation.”

We’re rooting for you, Dr. Khaled!
