Miami hosts massive Cryptocurrency event

Thousands of people ventured to Miami this week for a massive two-day Bitcoin conference. The city is in the midst of a tech boom and speculation is that Miami might be the next hub for crypto.

billionaire entrepreneur Jack Dorsey, the co-founder of Twitter and payments firm Square, told a crowded auditorium, “I don’t think there’s anything more important in my lifetime to work on” than bitcoin.

“We don’t need the financial institutions that we have today. We have one that is thriving, that is sound, that is owned by the community, that is driven by the community,” shared Dorsey, who was a keynote speaker.

With 12,000 participants and all speaker sessions sold out, the 2021 trade show features exhibits from crypto mining companies, crypto traders and bitcoin exchange networks.

Since late 2020, Miami has drawn successful tech experts from Silicon Valley and New York. This can partly be attributed to Florida’s lack of state taxes and relatively laid-back coronavirus precautions. Miami’s Mayor, Francis Suarez, opened Bitcoin 2021 and has been making a conscientious effort to turn Miami into its own version of Silicon Valley.

The conference was so highly anticipated, Bitcoin 2022 tickets were just announced via Twitter:
