Tom Holland (24) apparently was able to lose a whopping 30 pounds for his role in his upcoming film ‘Cherry.’ Holland is playing an army medic who suffers from PTSD and evidently took his method acting very seriously.
Directors, Joe and Anthony Russo were highly impressed with Tom’s dedication to his role. In an interview with Deadline the pair Joe said:
“[Tom] really shredded himself for the part. He lost 30 pounds, he gained it back. We’re on an independent movie schedule here – he didn’t really have a lot of time to be doing these things.”
He continues, “Even though the film is about coming-of-age and it’s a love story and it’s a war film and it’s a bank robbery film and it’s a drug addiction film, it’s a big melange of a lot of complicated life experiences.”
The Spiderman actor has worked with Joe and Anthony before on ‘Avengers: End Game’ and ‘Avengers: Infinity War.’ In ‘Cherry,’ the young actor will take on a more melancholy role. His character allegedly turns to robbing banks to help fund his opioid addiction.
According to Anthony, a main aspect of the film is Holland’s character’s romance with a lady named Emily who will be played by Ciara Bravo.
‘Cherry’ is scheduled to release in February 2021.
