Tik Tok’s Anti-Bullying Updates

The platform took new steps to combat bullying on the app.

Tik Tok's Anti-Bullying Updates

According to a recent statement by Tik Tok, the app is taking new steps to help combat bullying within its community. The app will now allow creators to delete a mass amount of comments at once.

Joshua Goodman, Director of Product Trust and Safety at Tik Tok, explained their reasoning behind the update:

“We’re introducing the ability to delete multiple comments at once or report them for potentially violating our Community Guidelines. Accounts that post bullying or other negative comments can now be blocked in bulk, too. We hope this update helps creators feel more empowered over their experience on TikTok.”

In order to use this feature people can “long-press” on a comment or tap the pencil icon in the upper left corner to open a window of options. Now, people can select up to 100 comments or accounts to block (instead of having to do so one by one).

Their update also emphasized the fact that users ages 13-17 have “additional safeguards on their accounts designed to promote an age-appropriate experience, including restrictions on Duet, Stitch, DMs, and comments.”
