If you are in the midst of jealousy issues, maintaining trust or dealing with a breakup, this episode is for you! Mais Mohammed, a passionate life coach joins Host Rouhana El Hage, as she explores social media and how it can take a toll on relationships. With over 101k followers on Instagram and 19.4k subscribers on YouTube, Mais brings in enlightening conversations hoping to inspire and motivate her audience on the daily.
Jealousy is a common disease and although it’s a natural feeling in human relationships, Mais believes a foundation of trust must be built in the start of every relationship.
“If you do not have it [trust] in a relationship, whether social media exists or doesn’t exist, your relationship honey, is going downhill”, Mais expressed.
What cost are you paying to be in this relationship?
Trust, Respect and Compassion, according to Mais, are the three elements that smoothly carry a healthy relationship. The vast collection of relationship quotes printed on keychains and cards can be held accountable to some extent as Mais confirms ‘the key to everything is Balance’.
As humans, we love to shift the blame on everything else other than ourselves. Considering everything in life comes with a good and bad side, Mais believes social media is never to blame.
“Everything in life has a positive and negative side. Whether it’s social media or your business. Whatever it is, it’s about how you use this weapon; because social media is a powerful weapon and if you use it the wrong way, you’re going into self-war.”, expressed Mais about using social media as an effective weapon.
Understanding the sensitivity of love and relationships connected to a public platform, Mais advises individuals committed in a relationship to not take things personal, when your significant other fails to like your social media posts! Mais expresses, “At the end of the day, you’re loved by them. A double tap on a photo is not gonna love you even more.”
The toxic cycle of social media’s ‘follow and unfollow procedure’ that comes after a breakup is mentally exhausting. For individuals finding themselves in a similar situation currently, Mais advises you to deal with the breakup inside and truly feel your emotions and allow yourself to heal rather than taking it to social media and constantly keeping an eye on your ex!
