Charli D’Amelio – one of TikTok’s most famous creators – has revealed in her latest podcast titled 2 Chix that she has “lost the passion” for posting content on TikTok.
Typically hosting alongside her sister Dixie D’Amelio, Charli appeared on this podcast episode alone. She revealed on-air that online hate was one of the biggest reasons why she’s considering leaving the platform.
“It’s extremely difficult to continue posting on a platform where the people that are watching your videos don’t actually want to see you and a lot of the feedback is negative. It’s very hard to do that. I just kind of lost the passion for it because it used to be really fun for me. I’m working back into it but it’s also hard when everyone’s ready to jump and criticize the second something is taken the wrong way or our words are mixed up. That’s why I don’t speak as much besides the podcast, because it’s scary, because every time I speak everyone tells me I have no personality, or I’m boring, or uninteresting, or I’m stupid. What do you want me to do? Continue making content when everyone’s telling me, ‘No, this isn’t good”.
It seems that the 16 year old TikTok star is a constant victim of online hate – no matter what she does: most notably, she lost 1 million followers after posting a video on the D’Amelio Family channel that shows a professional chef cooking for her family – a scenario which fans called rude and entitled. She was also mocked online after accidentally thinking the trending hashtag ##HereForCharli – which was meant to support singer Charli XCX who lost her friend and fellow musician Sophie – was about her.
With a TikTok following of almost 110 million ready to jump and criticize her every move, we would not be surprised if Charli were to announce her departure from the platform soon.
