The Arab Woman Awards was launched by ITP Media Group in 2009 to celebrate and appreciate the honorable achievements of Arab women across the GCC, in hopes of inspiring and setting an uplifting example for young women in the nation.
Sheikha Hind was named the “Humanitarian of the Year 2020” for successfully leading the ‘10 Million Meals’ campaign along with other UN Women during the early stages of COVID-19.

HH Sheikh Mohammed took to Twitter to congratulate Sheikha for her commendable efforts. “Sheikha Hind is the closest person to the people, and the fastest woman to do good.”, Sheikh Mohammed tweeted.
Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of UAE Food Bank, Her Highness Sheikha Hind Bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum launched the ’10 million meals campaign’ during the beginning of the pandemic that operated throughout the Holy Month of Ramadan.

Although the charitable initiative initially had a goal of distributing 10 million meals to individuals in need, the campaign exceeded its target after funding over 11 million meals within the first week. The campaign became the nation’s biggest food distribution drive which supported low-income families, laborers and individuals affected by the COVID-19 outbreak in the UAE. With enough monetary support, the initiative was able to donate a total of 15.3 million meals.
Sheikha Hind commented on her achievement saying “Sheikh Mohammed is the main supporter of the various humanitarian initiatives that continue to cement the UAE’s status as a beacon of hope and pioneer in creating a better future for humanity.” She continued, “Emirati women have adopted the values of compassion and generosity from our leaders who have taught us to aid people in need, empower the vulnerable and actively contribute to building stable and safe societies.”
Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak believes the award truly recognizes Sheikha Hind’s valuable service to the nation as well as her “leading role in supporting, developing and institutionalizing humanitarian work”. “As Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid once said, Sheikha Hind is very close to people. Her decades-long philanthropic work through major social and humanitarian initiatives and campaigns have touched lives”, Sheikh Nahyan said.
“The ’10 million meals’ campaign serves a noble cause that captures our society’s authenticity and humanity, especially in times of crisis.”, expressed Her Highness Sheikha Hind Al Maktoum.
Sheikha Hind has been presented with the Humanitarian Award at the Arab Woman Awards, at ‘World of Fashion’, in the Mall of The Emirates Central Galleria, presented by Harper’s Bazaar.
