7 Arab Female Business Owners Killing It In 2021

In honor of International Women’s Day, ITP Live would like to spotlight 7 Arab Female Content Creators who have founded their own businesses.

1. Huda Kattan

Huda Beauty is an Iraqi-American businesswoman and makeup artist. She is most known for founding Huda Beauty – a cosmetics brand that is valued at $1.2 Billion and is one of the most followed Instagram accounts in the world with 47.8 Million followers. She has also recently launched a skincare brand Wishful Skin.

2. Jessica Kahawaty

This Lebanese-Australian Model and philanthropist – who won Miss World Australia 2012 – is the founder of Mama Rita – a food-delivery startup that she started with her mother Ria Kahawaty. Mama Rita focuses on healthy, home-cooked meals that her mother specializes in. 

3. Nina Ubhi

Nina Ubhi is a Dubai-based make-up artist and entrepreneur who has created flawless makeup looks for some of the world’s leading publications – garnering her international acclaim in the beauty sector. Her success has allowed her to launch her own beauty brand Nina Ubhi Cosmetics – which specializes in false lashes.

4. Alaa Balhky

Alaa Balhky is a Saudi Serial entrepreneur, Creative Consultant, Art Director, and Illustrator. She is the co-founder of Minnazine –  a biannual magazine on Arab culture & design and the founder of Alaa Bint Hashim – a fashion label inspired by her travels between Jeddah & New York.

5. Marriam Mossali

Marriam Mossali – who is a key figure in the Middle Eastern Fashion Industry – is the founder of Niche Arabia – a luxury consultancy firm. Besides being a CEO, Mossali has a long list of accomplishments that include: being a former news journalist & feature writer for Harper’s Bazaar Arabia and Marie Claire Arabia, being a published author for titles such as Under The Abaya: Street Style From Saudi Arabia, and being on the Business of Fashion 500 List.

6. Ikram Zein

Ikram Zein is the founder of LYRA Swimwear – a brand focused on modest swimsuits that was inspired by Zein’s struggle to find aesthetic and flattering swimwear that was acceptable to her Muslim faith.

7. Yas

Yas is a Dubai-based pop singer and dancer who has just released her first 2021 single Kleopatra – a pop anthem inspired by her powerful journey of overcoming bullying and finding her self-worth. Most notably, Yas is the owner of the successful Dubai-based dance studio ‘Yas Music and Dance’ – which she created after noticing a huge gap in Dubai’s commercial music and dance scene.
