Snapchat launches 60+ new shows for Ramadan

Snapchat has launched 60+ shows in collaboration with various content creators, publishers and media agencies in the Middle East and North Africa region for the holy month of Ramadan.

This huge content launch by Snapchat is unprecedented: Sara Abu Zahra – who works in Strategic Media Partnerships (MENA & India) at Snap Inc. – shared that Snapchat has become the go-to platform for regional audiences to watch entertaining content.

“Times are definitely changing. People want to consume content on their mobile phones and at their own convenience. Snapchat’s Discover is the new digital majlis for Snapchatters during Ramadan and is the natural evolution of the story format, with shows that are made by the region’s top media publishers, editorially selected, brand-safe, and made just for Snapchat”.

Current regional Snapchat shows include Cosmo Mukbang, Noor Stars and Banen Stars from Diwan Group, La Tagoolha from the Saudi Broadcasting Authority; Lovin Saudi Ramadan Eats from Augustus, Anasala Family from Alfan, Robe’3 Nejmeh from Rotana Group, and Azma bel 3azba from Dubai Media.

Moreover, Fahad Alkhamisi – Head of Digital Media at Saudi Broadcasting Authority – stated that their new Snapchat show will provide creative and engaging content for their audiences – who use Snapchat on a day-to-day basis:

“People are spending more time on social and communication platforms nowadays, and are becoming more engaged with mobile content. A large number of our audience in the region are using Snapchat every day. Therefore, we are leveraging our successful partnership with Snapchat to provide them with new and exciting content this Ramadan, and we look forward to extending this collaboration that will give them an enjoyable screening experience in the future”.

Cosmopolitan Middle East also hopped on the Snapchat bandwagon pre-Ramadan and released Cosmo Mukbang – an Arabic Snapchat series hosted by Marwa AlHash and Nadine Hossam that features some of the craziest foods in the MENA region. Their first episode took everyone on a trip down memory lane – with hosts Marwa and Nadine trying their favourite childhood snacks such as Choki Choki and Chips Oman.
