Facebook beta-tests live audio room feature in Taiwan

Facebook has begun its initial beta-test for its Live Audio Rooms feature – which is currently available to digital creators and public figures in Taiwan.

In early April, Facebook announced its plans to develop their Live Audio Room feature – which would allow users to host and join audio conversations. To further help its creators reach their audiences, Facebook will push audio conversations to the ‘NewsFeed’ and ‘Chat’ sections of the app. Creators will also be able to monetize their content using Facebook Stars – which will allow viewers to pay a predetermined subscription fee to access the creator’s audio content.

Facebook’s announcement comes weeks after Clubhouse beta-launched its app to Android users and began funding 50 creator pilot shows as part of their Creator Accelerator Program. Although the date for the official launch of Facebook’s Live Audio Room feature has yet to be confirmed, the beta-tested feature will later be made accessible to a larger audience and will eventually be launched across both the Facebook and Messenger apps.
