Jaclyn Hill Shuts Down Negative Comments on Ulta Beauty’s Instagram and urges trolls to be kind

Beauty influencer Jaclyn Hill has called out online trolls for their hurtful comments – which includes body shaming and criticism over Hill’s use of filters. After releasing her Jaclyn Cosmetics Outspoken Liquid Lipsticks and Lip Liners in collaboration with Ulta Beauty, Hill faced a flood gate of negative comments and criticism.

Hill took to Instagram to shut down the trolls by sharing an unfiltered and a side by side comparison of her with and without makeup:

“This is me. There is no filter on either of these photos. Taken 2 hours apart.”

In an Instagram Story, she also shared her disappointment over the hurtful comments posted on Ulta Beauty’s Instagram post:

“So Ulta posted a video of me that I filmed 2 weeks ago and the comments are so incredibly mean. I’m not on here looking for any pity or sympathy but just being honest with you… I’m human & most days I carry on & don’t care. But today I feel defeated. Words hurt people. And I’m proud that I never speak about people the way others do. I’m just done for today.

Ulta Beauty supported Hill and urged their followers to be kind and respectful to each other:

“We ask that everyone treat each other with respect on our channels. Please keep it positive. We are proud to carry @jaclynhillcosmetics and support @jaclynhill.”

Moreover, Hill called out derogatory comments targeting her and her family and expressed her concern about the rampant rise and normalization of bullying on social media and in influencer culture:

“When I saw those comments on Ulta, it broke me. I’d rather be slapped across the face any day of my life than spoken to in such a harsh tone and have such degrading, dehumanizing things said about me and my family and my friends. It’s awful and to see it on such a large scale. It is so toxic. Just because people have followers doesn’t mean that they’re any less human. [It’s not like] when you cut them, they don’t bleed, or they’re not hurt. I’m only human. Everyone else on social media, we’re humans. I am just so sick of not being treated like a normal 30-year-old girl. It’s so frustrating.”
