Facebook Gaming has announced new beta-testing features that will allow creators to monetize their Video On Demand (VOD) content. Facebook Gaming’s first-ever monetization feature for VOD content helps creators earn revenue apart from their online live streams.
Facebook Gaming stated that the new features will help creators to monetize their content and build their careers on the platform:
“Gaming creators continue to build meaningful communities and earn meaningful revenue on Facebook Gaming. Whether pursuing a full-fledged career, a side hustle, or making content just for fun, we want creators to have the monetization tools and support they need to thrive on the platform.”
Facebook Gaming revealed its testing of the Stars feature for VOD content that is currently accessible to a limited number of creators. Stars is a monetization feature that helps fans support their creators by paying a certain amount to purchase a Star — with creators being paid $0.01 USD for each star received. The feature will help VOD creators to set and track star goals through the creator dashboard. The Stars ticker will feature messages with Stars, auto-play animations when Stars are received. Creators also have the opportunity to thank their fans through new response tools.
For live-streamers, Facebook announced their initial beta-testing of the feature LiveBreaks that helps partnered gaming creators to include 30-second, 90-second, or 150-second ad breaks in the middle of their streams to generate ad revenue:
“Live Breaks are manually-triggered 30-, 90-, or 150-second mid-roll ad breaks that incorporate a mixture of standard mid-roll video ads and creator-generated or viewer-generated content such as highlights and clips of amazing plays or curated calls to action for your viewers. Calls to action could include anything from videos to educate your audience about Stars and Fan Subs, or calls to join your Facebook Group.”
Moreover, Facebook Gaming has further expanded the Level Up program, a program that helps creators not partnered with Facebook and Facebook Partner, to nine more regions that include: Hong Kong, Kenya, Nigeria, Norway, Paraguay, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Ukraine, and Venezuela.
