Are you an aspiring filmmaker? Love making videos on your smartphone or tablet?

Then you’ll want to read on…

The British Council in Kuwait is launching its first edition of “Small Screen, Big Film” here in the GCC. It’s a competition and film festival for budding filmmakers in the GCC region (and Gulf citizens in the UK).

And the winners will receive professional coaching on a one to one basis from a UK film industry expert. Pretty exciting, isn’t it?

If you’re under the age of 25, this could be your big break…

“Small Screen, Big Film” is a great way for all you budding filmmakers out there to get exposure and develop your creative skills.

Applicants need to be between the ages of 18-25 and either a GCC national, a GCC resident, or a GCC citizen living in the UK. And if you’re under the age of 18, don’t worry. You can also submit a short film in the “Under 18” category.

Want to enter, but have never made a film before? That’s okay!

There’s a guide on the website that will help you out. It breaks down all of the basic elements of filmmaking, to help you create a stellar short film.

What’s the criteria for submitting?

Films need to be under three minutes in length, and has to be made on either a smartphone or tablet. Submissions close on January 31st, and there are more details for submitting your short films on the British Council’s website. The festival is planned to take place in March 2018.
