Couldn't Make It To Beauty Pop DXB? Here's What You Missed

Couldn’t make it out to Beauty Pop this past weekend? You missed out!

The three-day event, located in Dubai’s Design District, was jam packed with interactive exhibitions, celebrity appearances, make and hair master classes, and more.

But it was the panel talks on Friday and Saturday, with some of the biggest names in the beauty influencer industry, that really stole the show.

On Friday Beauty Pop welcomed celebrity hairstylist Jen Atkin, skincare expert “Nurse Jamie” Sherrill, Huda and Mona Kattan of Huda Beauty to the stage, to discuss the challenges of building a business in the age of social media.

Moderated by contributing editor and influencer Fajer Fahad, the ladies discussed what it was like to be the first generation of entrepreneurs that used social media to further their businesses.

Beauty influencer-turned-makeup-mogul Huda Kattan also touched on the challenges of being a woman in business within the region.

“When I first started the business I felt a lot of frustration,” Kattan said. “Being a woman in this region was challenging. People were treating us like our brand was just hobby. One of my favourite pieces of advice I’ve been given is just to be patient. There’s an Arabic phrase that means ‘with every delay there is a blessing’ – words to live by!”

Saturday’s panel talk “Real Women With Influence” welcomed model and Instagram influencer Camila Coelho; beauty vlogging sensations and entrepreneurs Desi Perkins and Marianna Hewitt; and Dubai-based influencer Dana Hourani to the stage.

The conversation was moderated by Jen Atkin and the ladies discussed everything from coming up with the perfect Instagram caption, to balancing their personal lives with “Instagram life”.

The biggest take away from the weekend? We heard it over and over again during the panel talks, but Sadaf Beauty couldn’t have said it better.

“Be authentic, be yourself, and do whatever you feel you have to do at that moment [to succeed]. Try to not copy others, that’s the most important thing,” the LA-based beauty vlogger and influencer said.

Overall, the weekend was a huge success.

Congratulations, Beauty Pop, on your debut event – we can’t wait for the next one!

Special thank you to JW Marriott Marquis Dubai, Prime 68 and Rasasi Perfumes for hosting the official Beauty Pop DXB dinner.
