The show is to take the 1:30 am (ET) slot in place of the existing Carson Daly show. Daly himself expressed no hard feelings in a tweet congratulating Singh.
Lilly, I’m so genuinely excited & happy for you & quite frankly, NBC. They gave me a shot which I’m forever grateful for. Now you have more than earned this moment! Go kick some late night (dude’s butts) & know I’m rooting for you! @IISuperwomanII #LittleLateLilly https://t.co/9cvNDbbEtp

The vlogging sensation who has over 14 million subscribers on her YouTube channel, IISuperwomanII, will be the first woman and person of Indian descent to host a late-night talk show.
Based on reports by NBC and Singh’s own statements, the show is expected to retain her unique brand of entertainment. She is also slated to be an executive producer of the show, which is the norm for most late-night hosts.
Singh landing her own show on mainstream television is clear proof that independent content creators are in high demand, especially when it comes to bridging the gap between traditional media and digital landscapes. And her joining the NBC family is expected to only increase viewership, especially among the Millennial and Gen-Z demographic.Â
Never heard of Lilly Singh? Here’s what you need to know about the YouTube Superstar…
Singh started her YouTube channel back in 2010 when she was a student at York University in Toronto.
Throughout the past decade, she’s become one of the biggest female entertainers on the video-sharing platform. In addition to growing her brand, she has dabbled in the music and film industry.
She’s also a regular in YouTube’s annual Rewind video; released a documentary called Unicorn Island; founded her own production house and released a New York Times bestselling book “How To Be A Bawse.”
Congratulations, Lilly! We can’t wait to tune in to your new show!
