Find Out How Likely It Is For a Robot to Take Your Job

It’s no question, technological innovation and digitisation is a gift, as it’s made life oh so convenient (maybe too convenient but that’s a debate for another day) and many a function significantly more efficient. But, on the other side of the fence it can be a curse,  making tons of people in certain industries, well….redundant, unfortunately.

In other words, they’re coming, and in an unexpected twist to your run of the mill iRobot movie, it might just be for your promotion.

If only there was a crystal ball you could look into to find out how likely that is. Well apparently, the aptly named website, ‘Will Robots Take My Job’ endeavours to do just that.

All you need to do is plug your job in, select the field most closely related, and viola…insteant re-assurance or panic.

But what is this sorcery, how does it work? Well, fortunately (or perhaps not), unlike those bogus “life expiration’’ date checkers, there’s actually some factual backing to this. The numbers are extracted from a report by Carl Benedikt Frey and Michael A. Osborne on “The Future of Employment: How susceptible are jobs to computerisation?” which employed a novel methodology to estimate the probability of computerization for 702 detailed occupations.

As you probably guessed, not every occupation is in the directory, so, unfortunately, some of you are just going to have to keep guessing. But then again, given we don’t know how accurate this thing is, we’re kind of all are.

Either way, it’s worth having a look at, if not just for a chuckle.
