Bad news for those mid-air social media posts

This is how much Emirates in-flight WiFi will now cost you

Asides from the extra leg room and solid entertainment selection, one of the major perks of flying Emirates (more specifically, Emirates A380) was the use of the airline’s incredibly cheap in-air Wi-Fi service. Keeping you “connected to work emails,” and much more importantly, paving the way for some #instagold live flying shots at 35,000 ft, all for the meager price of around $1 for 500MB of data.

Looks like that’s set to change, however – with what looks like a new pricing plan implemented; now, 500MB of data will cost Economy fliers $15.99 per flight (where a Wi-Fi service is available), with 150MB costing $9.99.

An initial free 20MB of data is available to all however, so best make that Facebook update count if you don’t want to put your hand in your pocket…

It’s not all bad news, however, as ITP Live understands, all Emirates Skywards members kicking back in the premium cabins will still get free Wi-Fi for their whole flight, while the in-air service is available.

On the plus side, if you don’t fancy forking out for in-flight internet access, you’ve now got a great excuse to completely avoid those work emails we mentioned.
