Cultural relations between France and the UAE will be highlighted this November as Abu Dhabi collaborates with Comitė Colbert, a grouping of 84 French luxury houses and 16 cultural institutions, to highlight French culture and luxury throughout the emirate in the coming weeks.
“Flânerie Colbert Abu Dhabi: French Luxury in the 21st Century” is a new and unique series that will feature events across multiple locations in Abu Dhabi – including the Louvre Abu Dhabi, House of Artisans, The Galleria and Abu Dhabi Art.
It will explore the history and different interpretations of French luxury, as well as the connection between French and Emirati culture in art and fashion.

Events include workshops and masterclasses by famous French brands (think Chanel); discussions between French and Emirati artisans about their respective crafts; and cultural demonstrations like “10,000 Years of Luxury” exhibition at the Louvre Abu Dhabi.
Other big brand names in the industry that will be supporting the event include Hermès, Cartier, Puiforcat and Louis Vuitton. All the events are supported by the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi.

“In this respect, Flânerie Colbert will bring together artisan skills, contemporary creation and the very best of both Emirati and French cultures,” His Excellency Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of DCT Abu Dhabi said.
“The French luxury sector combines intangible heritage and creativity,” French Minister of Culture Franck Riester said. “The cultural dialogue developed by the Comité Colbert through this series of events around excellence skills and Contemporary Art will definitely contribute to strengthen the bonds between our countries.”
