As most of the world locks down to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus, online activity has perhaps never been higher in recent times.
Streaming giant Netflix has recorded the best quarter in the company’s history amid the pandemic as people social distancing rules have been put into effect.
In its quarterly earnings report on Tuesday, the streaming video company said it now has 183 million customers around the world and that its leap in subscribers was driven entirely by the worldwide lockdown.
According to an article shared by Vox, the company added nearly 16 million new users, and all of that unexpected growth came in March, when governments around the world told their citizens to stay home.
Netflix has thrived simply because their product requires only an internet connection to access and gives consumers hundreds of options to choose from.Â
