A popular TikToker dumped a tub of cereal on the New York City subway

A TikTok prankster is facing major backlash after pulling a very messy stunt on a crowded New York City subway car.

In the video, Josh Popkin, who has 3.3 million followers on TikTok, pretends to accidentally spill a large plastic storage container of milk and cereal on the floor.

The Metropolitan Transit Authority shared a tweet which stated that the prank resulted in extra work for essential workers who are already working extremely hard to keep the subway clean and sanitized during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The video had been viewed at least 3.3 million times on TikTok, but it was no longer visible on his profile as of Friday afternoon. The video the MTA tweeted had 6.2 million views.

Although the video is not dated, the other passengers on the train are seen wearing masks which suggests that the video was filmed quite recently.

Josh did, however, post an apology video to his TikTok page and a longer version to his YouTube channel.

Some fans called him out for his seemingly ‘insincere nature’ and thought that his apology was just a front.
