During the 76th Cannes Film Festival, the AlUla Creates program, a platform designed to inspire creativity and empower Saudi Arabia’s future generations, unveiled its second phase. The Hollywood actress Katie Holmes – renowned for her directing, acting, and producing skills, has been named as the mentor for this round.
The program’s goals were clarified at a panel discussion on May 18 and highlighted fostering and supporting young female talent in the Kingdom.
The Panel
The discussion panel featured Katie Holmes, Charlene Deleon-Jones from Film AlUla, program ambassador and model Eva Herzigova, and Saudi actress and ambassador Mila Al-Zahrani.
Deleon-Jones highlighted Holmes’ experience and familiarity with the film industry when she discussed the significance of her selection.
During the discussion, Holmes said she draws inspiration from Saudi Arabia’s young people and their innovative ideas. She expressed her want to hear, shape, and contribute her ideas in order to help bring these stories to life. She expressed delight at being able to comprehend the distinctive experiences of Saudi women and contribute to their creative journey as an outsider.
Katie’s Look
She displayed her sense of style by wearing a pair of wide-leg beige pants, a jacket that matched them, and a white turtleneck T-shirt. With a pair of snakeskin heels that added some extra height to her frame, Katie accessorized simply with a tiny necklace and silver hoops.
She chose a high-glamour makeup look and styled her glossy brunette hair in loose curls that fell across her shoulders.
About The Second Phase
The AlUla Creates program aims to unite the creative fields of acting and fashion designing, as the former needs the designers to create characters that reflect their identities and experiences.
The program’s second phase is focused on the fashion aspect of the film business. The introduction of the filmmaking mentor program will follow, with the goal of promoting and elevating young female talent in Saudi Arabia by providing them with access to the necessary tools and training.
The AlUla Creates team and Holmes will work with three aspiring filmmakers to assist them research locations in the AlUla desert and coming up with a concept for a short film. The best concept will be picked for production, early next year.
