Warzone has banned over half a million users since last year’s launch

Since its launch in 2020, over half a million Call of Duty: Warzone players have been banned from the game.

The figure was revealed via Twitter by the official Raven Software user, aka the developers of the game. The tweet expresses that with the 30,000 accounts that were just banned in a day, the game had officially banned over half a million users. The tweet attributes the banning of this number to “malicious” behavior, which includes the usage of cheats or hacks — as they are forbidden under the Warzone rules.

In addition to the bans, the team said that put in place filters to aid in detecting “potentially offensive user-names, clan tags or profiles” and “potentially offensive text chat.” The developers went on to share a Toxicity Progress Report. In the report they reiterate their commitment to countering hate speech, “We are committed to delivering a fun gameplay experience for all of our players. There’s no place for toxic behavior, hate speech or harassment of any kind in our games or our society. We are focused on making positive steps forward, and together celebrating the best fans in the world.”

“There’s much more to be done, including increasing player reporting capabilities and moderation, as well as addressing voice chat to help combat toxicity.” the developers shared at the end of the report.
