The best $1.56 Million ever spent?

A sealed copy of Super Mario 64 game sells for a record $1.56 million!

In a new record-breaking auction, an original sealed copy of Super Mario 64 was sold for a staggering $1.56 million by American auction house Heritage Auctions. The record bid took place just two days after a sealed copy of The Legend of Zelda was sold for $870,000.

Valarie McLeckie, Video Games Specialist at Heritage Auctions, shared her excitement over the new historic record sale:

“After the record-breaking sale of the first game in the Zelda series on Friday, the possibility of surpassing $1 million on a single video game seemed like a goal that would need to wait for another auction. We were shocked to see that it turned out to be in the same one! We are proud to have been a part of this historic event.”

The 1996 cartridge was graded 9.8 A++ – signifying its near-perfect or “like new” condition. The Super Mario 64 was the first Super Mario video game in the realm of 3D gameplay and a best-seller for the Nintendo 64 system.
