When it launched in 2020, Animal Crossing: New Horizons took the world by storm. The social simulation world of Animal Crossing is cozy and offers a variety of activities, including fishing, crafting, chatting with neighbors, and collecting famous artwork. One Influencer made it a mission to see all the artworks in Animal Crossing in real life, and he succeeded. This is his overnight sensation story.

Influencer sees all Animal Crossing artwork in real life

Creator MayPlaysTV (real name Mayuren “May” Naidoo), has officially seen all 43 pieces of art after traveling to 10 countries, 17 cities, and 29 museums. It’s an incredible feat, and he documented all of it.

The Influencer took to X, formerly Twitter, to announce his news, “In April 2022, I set the goal to visit all 43 artworks that appear in Animal Crossing: new horizons in real life… 16 months, 3 continents, 10 countries, 17 cities and 29 museums later, I have seen 43/43,”

On Instagram, May shared a reel documenting his journey. He captioned the video, “Everything has led to this video… Thank you to everyone who has supported me with this goal of seeing every artwork from Animal Crossing: New Horizons in real life! Final 6 episodes coming soon,”

Soon enough, the video went viral. Currently, the video has over 3 million views on Instagram alone. That’s an incredible achievement.

During a conversation with Tech Radar Gaming, May shared that he came up with the idea for his project back in April 2022. While strolling around London, he spotted a poster promoting one of the paintings from New Horizons on display. He discovered that most of the 43 artworks were located in Europe, and came up with the idea to see them all.

However, it took a lot of time, and money to be able to complete the challenge. According to May, “Flights between Europe are very affordable when you book in advance. Booked my US trip with Black Friday deals traveling in the coldest week of the year, and was fortunately hosted in Japan last month by TPCI [The Pokémon Company International].”

Other obstacles also persisted, according to May, such as “not being allowed to film at certain museums, or having to resort to seeing fakes of certain artworks as the real copies aren’t on display. There were times when museums were also closed or artworks were away at an exhibition elsewhere,” he said.

Animal Crossing is Nintendo Switch’s most wholesome, and cozy game. A major content update happened back in 2021, so many players have now moved on to new horizons, and other games to play. Nonetheless, May’s achievement will stand out amongst all Animal Crossing fans forever.
