The holy month of Ramadan is a time of reflection, spirituality, and community. It is also a time for celebration, with many countries hosting traditional events and festivities to mark the occasion. One such event takes place in Qatar, where a car parade is held every Ramadan.
Qataris like other Gulf populations love their cars, and the car parade is among the most popular Ramadan traditions in Qatar, dating to 1965. During the holy month, between 4 pm and 5.30 pm, residents get together with friends, family, and children, and take their best cars out on the streets.
The tradition has been taking place in the corniche for the past 30 years, this year however, it was in Lusail — the futuristic city built for the Fifa World Cup.
Organized by clubs such as the Sealine Circuit Sports Club and the Qatar Supercar Club, The car parade is an event that attracts people from all walks of life. Car enthusiasts come from far and wide to participate in the parade, and many more line the streets to watch the cars pass by. The parade features some of the most exotic and expensive cars in the world, including Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and McLarens, as well as vintage cars. The cars are decorated with colorful lights, making them even more eye-catching as they drive through the city.
With the holy month nearing its end, we put together a list of our favorite highlights and moments from this year’s Ramadan car parade, enjoy!
