A Kuwaiti Fashion Influencer has been sentenced to three years in prison following a tragic car accident that claimed the lives of two individuals.

Influencer causes accident in Kuwait
In August 2023, a tragic accident in Kuwait resulted in two deaths and two injuries. In a statement released by the ministry, the two-way collision occurred on the 24th of Thursday.
The driver who was under the influence of “intoxicating substances”, was speeding, and crossed a red light, caused the accident. It has also been reported the insurance of the driver’s vehicle that was being driven was expired. Four were involved in the accident, of which two fatally passed due to their injuries from the crash.
Pictures and videos of the crash quickly circulated social media.
It was revealed that Fashion Influencer Fatima Al Momen was behind the wheel. Fatima Al Momen is an architect turned fashion Influencer who has over 2 million followers on the social media platform, Instagram. She has been active as an Influencer since 2014.
News regarding her sentencing
According to the Ministry’s account on X, Al Momen was originally charged with 10 counts, including manslaughter, accidental injury, exceeding the red light, and more.
Additionally, the Public Prosecution declined a bail request for Al Momen.
On Wednesday, the Kuwaiti court sentenced the fashionista to three years in prison for manslaughter, along with additional charges from the Misdemeanor Court, which included running a red light and speeding.
