Puma x Frida Kahlo’s collaboration elevates style through art

A new partnership combining sports and influential art together.

Puma x Frida Kahlo

If influencer marketing was born hundreds of years ago, then Frida Kahlo would be on the top of our list for being the most influential artist of the 20th century. Born and raised in Mexico, Frida is known for her bold and colourful self-portraits depicting different themes of identity, female empowerment, strength, pain, and more. These themes are derived from Frida’s life experiences having gone through many events in her life starting as a child when she began to suffer from polio.

“It is not a sin to be original” is one of the quotes that Frida Kahlo once said and one that is used in Spanish on the latest Puma release and in collaboration with the famous artist. Born on the 6th of July, this collection commemorates the anniversary of Frida through the modern form and design of sportswear by another original brand, Puma.

The sportswear brand Puma, founded in 1948 in Germany, is now a global icon with best-selling sportswear items for men, women, and children. Just recently, the brand signed a deal with popular Serbian YouTuber Nikola DJota Milosevic, also better known as djotafreestyle, as their latest Brand Ambassador. Nikola has 1.1 million followers on his YouTube channel and over 700,000 on Instagram with the largest fan base across Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Croatia.

One brand and one Artist have formed together to create a new way of looking at traditional art and sportswear creating the Puma x Frida Kahlo collaboration. The collaboration is artistic in form using Puma’s black colouring as the base, yet splashing on Frida’s colourful, bold prints on the leggings, top, hoodie, trainers, and cap. This release is a part of an initiative celebrating equality and empowering the voices of female artists. Always challenging norms, Frida Kahlo channeled personal struggles into art and self-confidence, making her one of the most inspirational changemakers in history.

Designed to elevate your sportswear into a whole other dimension, it makes us wonder what collaborations will be introduced into the digital world that was once famous many years ago. It gives brands ideas and inspiration to use digital artists to create a print or even create a Super Mario gaming design on physical materials, for example.
