META Film Festival returns in 2023
Dubai is a beacon of art and culture, and it’s set to hold the META Film Festival for a second time from November 9 to 12, 2023. The festival is a 4-day celebration of cinema. It’s best known for its portrayal of the finest global films, and the festival has become a hub for filmmakers, industry professionals, and cinephiles.
Leila Masinaei, Founder of META Film Fest, said: “The festival garners immense appreciation from movie enthusiasts and industry professionals, and this year’s edition will see significant growth in both the number and caliber of films being shown.”
The festival is organized by GM Events and held in partnership with VOX Cinemas and Wafi City. Stephanie-Alexandra Chartier, Group Head of Marketing at the Wafi Group said the partnership underscores its commitment to fostering the UAE’s creative economy strategy. “Emphasising local content production, promoting Arabic-language content, and empowering youth in the film industry are crucial aspects we wholeheartedly support,” she added.
What to expect from the festival
Over the course of the event, it will show more than 70 movies from more than 20 countries, include over 10 workshops and welcome more than 50 global celebrities and 15,000 attendees. The workshops and masterclasses are designed to encourage budding filmmakers.
The focus of the META Film Festival is to offer a high-quality cinematic experience. To do so, it will unveil and promote premieres of cutting-edge independent productions and studio-crafted masterpieces, which will further be judged by a prestigious, high-profile judging panel.
Jury members, movie titles to be screened, and more, are still to be announced.
