Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey has said that he will make a $3 million donation to Colin Kaepernick’s organization Know Your Rights Camp.

Kapernick’s organization educates young people about their rights. He became the topic of discussion while he served as a player for the San Francisco 49ers, where he kneeled during the national anthem in protest of police killings against black people.
The grant will help “advance the liberation and well-being of Black and Brown communities through education, self-empowerment, mass-mobilization to elevate the next generation of change leaders,” Dorsey stated.
Recently, Dorsey faced criticism from President Trump after censoring one of his tweets, for the first time. Twitter said Trump’s post, which said, “when the looting starts, the shooting starts,” violated its policies about glorifying violence.
In the wake of George Floyd’s murder, other tech company executives have also pledged support and donations to organizations which aim to combat racial discrimination. Google CEO Sundar Pichai said Wednesday the company will provide $12 million in funding to organizations working to address racial inequities.
As the #BlackLivesMatter movement has sparked conversations and protests worldwide, we can expect that other corporations will also pledge their support in honor of their diverse workforce and consumers.
