Last month, Amazon organised Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube influencers on a three-day trip to Mexico to a luxurious resort. The influencers who attended experienced Amazon-themed activities including pop-up shops of “internet famous” items on the Amazon app, “Kindle Beach Oasis,” and have an all-nighter watching films at “Prime Video.”
The program
In 2017, Amazon launched its Influencer program enticing social media personalities to join and experience amazing perks. The purpose of the program is to bring on influencers to promote products by Amazon and earn money as they do it. This trip wasn’t the first of its kind, as Amazon also held events this year in New York and Los Angeles.
The getaway
During the getaway to Mexico, Sivan Ayla, a social media influencer herself, hosted an engaging workshop for everyone who attended. The weekend was filled with learning, as well as delicious meals and spa treatments at the “Amazon Resort.” Raye Boyce was one of the influencers in attendance who has 1.6 million followers on her Instagram account and 1.9 million subscribers on YouTube. Boyce said, “Now there’s Amazon, which is a way of making commissions from products you would normally buy on your own.” She continued to say, “You can make money off of that on top of your brand deals, and YouTube and TikTok and everything else.”
Future of Influencer Marketing
According to Influencer Marketing Hub, the influencer marketing industry rose from a $1.7 billion industry in 2016, to a staggering $13.8 billion dollar market in 2021. The number is looking to jump even higher to $16.4 billion this year, showing how much influence influencer marketing has on businesses and content creators.
