Twitter has announced its new paid weather service ‘Tomorrow’ in partnership with former climate journalist and meteorologist Eric Holthaus. Tomorrow will be charging users with a subscription fee to provide weather data and insights in their locality.
Twitter’s Tomorrow rolled out on June 1 across 16 cities in North America and yesterday extended across other cities including Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Detroit, Houston, Minneapolis, New York City, Philadelphia, Portland, San Antonio, San Francisco, Toronto, Washington DC, and the Dominican Republic.
Tomorrow is a weather service — a community of people sharing resources and delivering justice, hope, connection, safety, and resilience in a world in urgent need of systemic action.
It's weather that changes the world.

Mike Park, VP of Product at Twitter, revealed that launching a weather app was the perfect next venture for Twitter:
“Weather is a perfect match for Twitter. Some of the largest spikes in conversations on Twitter are tied to severe events like hurricanes, floods, and fires.”
So, how does Twitter’s Tomorrow work? The weather service will be sending users a daily weather forecast of their city every evening via inbox. The forecast would feature alongside a news story, a poem, meme, short clip or a call to action. Under serious weather conditions, Tomorrow will help users connect with weather experts to help cope with their fear.
Eric Holthaus shared that the weather service will also be working on newsletters for Twitter’s newsletter platform Revue and be hosting Q&A audio sessions on Spaces in collaboration with meteorologists and climate experts:
“We’ll be doing local newsletters, drop-in audio chats during times of scary weather, original journalism focused on climate justice, and a paid service that will let people ask unlimited questions. It’s a revolutionary weather service for a revolutionary moment in history.”
