Roblox has unveiled a series of major updates at its 12th annual Roblox Developers Conference (RDC), introducing new ways for players to access games, new AI-powered creation tools for developers, and expanded opportunities for creators to grow their businesses.
The announcements come as Roblox celebrates 20 years of platform innovation, with the company revealing updates across three key areas: Play, Build, and Grow.
Roblox Is Expanding Where and How Players Can Play
Roblox says players spent 29 billion hours on the platform during the last quarter alone, across more than 180 countries. The company is now expanding how players can access experiences across devices and platforms.

Roblox Games Soon To Become Standalone Apps
Through Roblox Everywhere, creators will soon have the option to make their games available as standalone apps across mobile, PC, and consoles.
Roblox will continue to provide the underlying technology and services, while creators gain another way to reach audiences beyond the traditional Roblox app.
Roblox Is Coming to the Web
By the end of 2026, players will be able to launch Roblox games directly through Chrome without downloading or opening the Roblox app.
Players will be able to access a game from its Experience Details Page, meaning a shared link anywhere on the web could take users directly from discovery into gameplay. Roblox says additional browsers will follow.

Offline Roblox Games Are Also Coming
Creators will be able to combine online and offline modes within a single game, allowing players to continue playing in situations where they have limited or no network connectivity.
The update could also open the door to more single-player campaigns and offline sessions on Roblox.
Roblox Is Expanding Beyond 3D Multiplayer Games
While Roblox has traditionally been associated with large-scale 3D multiplayer experiences, the platform is expanding its engine to support more types of games.
New tools will allow creators to build 2D games using an orthographic camera, animated image containers, and direct sprite-sheet imports.
Roblox is also introducing new UI features, including blur, text shadows, and improved gradients, alongside a new notification system designed to support turn-based and asynchronous multiplayer games.

Friends Chat Will Keep Players Connected
Roblox is also making it easier for players to stay connected between games.
A new Friends chat tab will follow players across experiences, allowing friends to coordinate and move into new games together. Roblox is also introducing voice typing, allowing players to speak rather than type while playing.
Roblox Is Adding New AI Tools for Game Creation
Roblox is positioning AI as a major part of its future development ecosystem, describing its approach as an AI creation layer designed specifically around the complexity of game development.
Build, Roblox’s creation tool that allows users to create and publish games through prompting, is expanding to public alpha in Serbia and Singapore.
The expansion follows its launch in New Zealand earlier this summer. According to Roblox, creators have already used Build to publish approximately 9,000 games, while 71% of the thousands of users who have created a game using Build had never previously used Roblox Studio.

Roblox is also adding an asset library, desktop access, and greater iterative control. Creators can already review analytics and add monetization, while the ability to launch advertisements for their games from their phones is coming soon.
Although Roblox’s Build is not yet available in the region, we’re excited for when it does become available and to see how these new tools could make game creation more accessible to creators across the Middle East.
Scene Generator Turns Prompts Into Game Environments
Coming later this year, Scene Generator will introduce prompt-to-scene functionality to both Build and Roblox Studio.
Creators will be able to provide a text prompt alongside a reference image, with the tool generating a fully functional layout that can then be refined within Studio.
NPCs Will Be Able to Playtest Games
Roblox is also expanding the capabilities of NPCs, with two new behaviours planned by the end of the year.
One of the highlighted developments will include NPCs capable of playtesting games.
Roblox Is Expanding Creator Monetization
There’s never been a better time to become a Roblox developer as creator earnings were another major focus at RDC 2026.
Since the launch of Developer Exchange (DevEx) in 2013, creators have earned more than $5 billion on Roblox. Over the past 12 months alone, creators have earned approximately $1.7 billion.
Roblox Wallet
Another exciting announcement was the Roblox Wallet, a new financial account designed to support creator businesses.
Eligible creators will be able to earn directly in real currency, receive automatic payments every business day, and transfer funds to other Roblox accounts or an external account. Roblox will also provide expanded earnings analytics through Creator Hub.
Roblox Wallet will begin rolling out later this year to eligible independent creators aged 18 and over in the United States, before expanding globally next year.

Connected to Roblox Wallet, Roblox Card will allow creators to spend their available balance anywhere the card is accepted.
The Roblox Card is scheduled to begin rolling out next year.

Discovery Ranking Gets a Major Update
Roblox is updating its discovery ranking system to account for different player behaviours.
The system now considers younger players, who Roblox says tend to engage more with shorter-form games, alongside older players who are drawn to deeper experiences they return to over time.
The ranking system will look beyond a game’s first week and consider engagement across the first 28 days and beyond. Roblox is also testing a system focused on direct growth, measured by how many new players a game brings to the platform.

What Does This Mean for Roblox Creators?
The announcements at RDC 2026 point towards Roblox becoming more accessible across devices, more flexible as a game development platform, and increasingly focused on AI-assisted creation.

From standalone apps and browser-based gameplay to AI-generated scenes and new creator financial tools, Roblox is expanding the ways developers can build, distribute, monetize, and grow their experiences.
With the platform celebrating its 20th anniversary, RDC 2026 marks another significant expansion of what creators can do within the Roblox ecosystem.
