SZA REFLECTS ON THE GRAMMY’S

In an interview with Cosmopolitan for her February 2021 cover, the singer got candid about the 2018 Grammy’s.

The singer was up for five Grammy’s for her 2017 album, ‘Ctrl.’ The album premiered at number three on the Billboard 200. Among her five nominations, she was nominated for ‘best new artist.’ However, the ‘Good Days’ singer lost to Alessia Cara, upsetting many. The reaction prompted SZA to take to Instagram to defend Cara and her accolades.

The following year SZA received four nominations, however, did not win any. When asked about the Grammy’s in her Cosmo interview the artist responded:

“I’m just a girl from the ’burbs. I never had dreams of being nominated for a Grammy. I thought I was going to be a gymnast and a f**ing business accountant somewhere. Or working at Nike corporate or some sh*t in Portland. Who knows, but something that involved a power suit. So it’s not a heavy burden. Once you’ve been nominated and lost, you’re very much free because you’re not concerned. I passed that threshold years ago–it’s an old energy to me. Why would I be mad?”

SZA’s latest hit, ‘Good Days’ was released on Christmas. Listen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oh64haEP9g8
