Sabrina Bahsoon, affectionately known to the internet as “Tube Girl,” went viral on TikTok practically overnight for dancing on the London Tube like nobody is watching, and it’s sparked a trend.

Who is ‘Tube Girl’?
We’ve documented ourselves more and more over the past few years on social media for all the world to see, but that doesn’t mean making videos in front of others isn’t hard or super anxiety-inducing.
This is why user Sabrina Bahsoon, better known as ‘tube girl’ on TikTok, has inspired thousands of other users to just not care about people staring, and do what they want. And she’s pioneered an entire style of dancing subway videos that show just how much she doesn’t care.
On September 13th, Bahsoon rode London’s transportation system (known as the tube) and recorded herself dancing to David Guetta and Nicki Minaj’s “Where Them Girls At”. The caption of the TikTok reads, “Being the friend who lives on the other side of the city, so you gotta hype yourself up during the commute.”
Her hair blows almost violently in the wind from an open carriage, and she swings her phone around to capture all her angles. Before Bahsoon knew it, the short-form video had garnered over a million views in the first week.

According to Bahsoon, she was sitting on the tube and just decided to film a TikTok. “‘I’m gonna film a TikTok and there were people in the carriage. I just, I just don’t care. And I was just like, you know, what? Might as well?” she said in an interview. It’s all about taking a leap.
She grew up in Malaysia and moved to the U.K. at a young age. She originally wanted to pursue a career a law, but realized her dream was to be a model. Her career has fast-tracked because of TikTok. Thanks to the ‘Tube Girl’ trend, she’s gained over 500 thousand followers and she’s walking the runway at London Fashion Week this year.
The Tube Girl effect
People in the comments are so shocked as to how the ‘Tube Girl’ can dance in public with no fear of humiliation. One commenter specifically states, “I’m too anxious to even scratch an itch in public. Howww??” Another comment reads, “Doing this in public is wild but I’m tryna get on your level”.
For others, her confidence is contagious. Some TikTok users have attempted to dance during their commutes on public transport, with even celebrities such as Shay Mitchell joining in.
When she saw Mitchell had been inspired, Bahsoon was shocked, saying “What are you doing? Oh my God, I’ve been watching you since I was a kid and now you’re doing the Tube Girl trend. What is happening?”

To help stay hyped, Bahsoon has even shared her personal playlist that she listens to while commuting on the tube.
“If I was to influence anyone about anything, it’s to not care. Stop caring about what people think.” Bahsoon said in an interview. “Because at the end of the day, you’re left with your own thoughts, your own accomplishments. If you’re having regrets because you started to just listen to people and what they would think then it’s just like, so sad.”
Take that as a sign to not let anyone or anything stand in the way of what you want to do, especially if it’s dancing on a train. You never know, it may lead to great opportunities and success.
