What is “Bad Influencer” about?
The series which will feel like you’re watching a binge-watching fictional series, depicts themes of romantic comedy, entertaining audiences through the eyes of the protagonist Sarah Sawyer. Sarah is in her 20s, living in the Big Apple, that is New York City. One day, she makes a wish to one day wake up and be a famous influencer, and low and behold, that’s exactly what happens.
Similar to the film 13 Going Onto 30 with the actress Jennifer Garner, she makes a wish to be older on her birthday, and her wish comes true. Just like Garner in the film, Sarah finds that with all of the glitz and glam of being an influencer, comes the hardships of being a world-famous online social media influencer. She soon learns that not everything is what it seems.
Idea Behind the Story
Co-created by author Jane Green and the author of “Twenty Guys You Date in Your Twenties” Gabi Conti, Bad Influencer is a podcast written for every girl living wanting to escape reality and walk through life with Sarah. The full cast of the podcast includes Adam Kaplan, Jordyn DiNatale, Elizabeth Cappucino, and comedian Anna Roisman.
In a quote by Emerald Audio, co-founder Jane Green, she said “We’re thrilled to release this fun, binge-able series as Emerald Audio’s third original scripted podcast. Bad influencer is a story of ambition, obsession, and the high price of fame. The entire cast and crew did an exceptional job bringing the script to life and we can’t wait for everyone to hear it.”
Visualisation through Podcasts
Many podcast listeners find it easier to listen to something on the go rather than sitting down and reading a book. The fictional podcast does allow readers and listeners to join this journey with Sarah and Sawyer and visualise the scene through narration.
Visualisation through podcasts and especially through storytelling allows individuals to open their imagination and picture the story as they see it. It is not only good for adults to listen to podcasts, but also for young people to use this as a technique to get creative and develop their own ideas and understanding of a story.
Bad Influencer will encourage younger readers and listeners to tune into the nine-part episodes, opening doors for other authors. Depending on the popularity of the podcast, there could be the opportunity of either writing a book on it or creating it into a film or Netflix series.
What are your thoughts on the podcast and its influence on the youth?
