SPARTAN MIDDLE EAST ANNOUNCES UAE’S FIRST INDOOR 'CITY' RACE AT ETIHAD ARENA

Spartan Middle East, licensed by ITP Media Group, has announced the launch of the region’s first-ever indoor Spartan ‘City’ race, set to take place on Saturday, 20th September 2025 at Etihad Arena, Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.

A NEW KIND OF SPARTAN CHALLENGE

This exciting new event will see adult participants (ages 14 and above) tackle a 3km course featuring 15 iconic Spartan obstacles, all within a climate-controlled indoor venue. A small outdoor segment will also be included, creating a dynamic and fast-paced urban challenge unlike any other in the region.

The Spartan ‘City’ format is designed for speed, intensity, and accessibility, making it perfect for first-timers, returning Spartans, and corporate teams looking for a high-energy fitness experience in a practical, spectator-friendly setting.

NEXT-GEN SPARTANS READY TO RACE

Spartan Kids races will also take center stage, offering younger athletes the opportunity to compete in age-appropriate formats:

1km course for ages 4-6
1.5km course for ages 7-9
3km course for ages 9-14

All finishers, both young and adult, will receive a Spartan T-shirt, medal, and a banana to refuel post-race.

GROWING MOMENTUM FOR SPARTAN IN THE MIDDLE EAST

The announcement comes after a period of strong regional growth for Spartan Middle East. Over 5,500 participants attended its recent event at The Arena, Bab Al Shams, and more than 6,000 took part in the inaugural Trifecta Weekend at Dubai Parks and Resorts in January 2025.

The Spartan ‘City’ race is organized with the support of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC). This partnership continues the UAE’s growing legacy in the sport, following the successful annual hosting of the Spartan World Championship in Al Wathba, which draws over 6,000 participants each year and reinforces the country’s status as a global destination for obstacle course racing.
