Are you looking to deactivate your Facebook profile for a while so you can get some social media detox? You’re not alone, there are many people who are obsessed with social media and need to just switch-off for a while without having to delete their account.
If logging out isn’t enough and you are still tempted to keep logging back in for a quick scroll, then deactivating your account may be the best thing for you. It will give you a strong and balanced mind, without digital media getting involved.
Unfortunately, many people do become attached with using apps like Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat and now TikTok. With mindless hours of scrolling, it can damage your thoughts with you finding yourself comparing your life with others, feeling ungrateful for the things you have and make you lose creativity or energy to get up and do something active.
Steps on how to deactivate:
- Login to your account
- Click on your settings in the top left corner
- Click on Privacy
- Click on Your Facebook information
- Scroll down and click on Deactivation and deletion
After you have clicked on Deactivation and Deletion, there are two options to either deactivate where you will have confirmed by imputing in your password, or deleting your account completely. If you choose to delete your account forever, there are a set number of days before it completely dissolves, so you have time to reactivate if you wish to reactivate it.
By deactivating your account, your profile will essentially be in hibernation mode. This is the best option for you, if you do not want to get rid of your profile, but to take a break from Facebook.
